As business owners, there are some points along your quest when you sense that things are changing and that you too need to become part of that change (again!). For us, one such occasion came last fall with the realization that we’re not a start up any more—that we’re in growth mode, and that we need to think differently. The full knowledge that what got you there alone won’t get you to the next goal. And that realization makes you reflect on how it is that you are fortunate enough to be in this position.
For us, the answer is simple—it’s our extraordinary people. We do many things fast, but hiring is not one of them because inviting the wrong person into the agency can have dire consequences. There’s a great saying that “culture eats strategy for lunch” and it’s so true. The best laid vision and plans with the wrong people and culture is a failure in wait.
And when we think about our culture and the essence of our product, we saw leaders emerging. Yes, through their craft and talent, absolutely. Through their drive, care, loyalty and belief in what we’re building together. And through a lens of shared values—those personal convictions that matter more that anything. In our case it’s truthfulness, the pursuit of the extraordinary and generosity.
Congratulations Whit, Karrie and Joe.
We’re fortunate to work alongside three leaders that make us better every single day. And we're thrilled to promote Whit Bowers, Karrie Gurnow, and Joe Moore to their new posts as Account Group Director and Creative Directors. They know where we are headed and they know how to get there—best yet, they make sure that our work and our culture are on equal footing and always gathering steam.
Whit was our first employee. We won a project that scared us big time and he brought his signature calm to it. Whit also enjoyed his status as Employee of The Month for a full year (as our only employee)—not a bad start and it only got better from there.
Karrie was our first call when we landed a big branding assignment (A Travelocity company called SmarterTravel) and needed to impress. And she did. Her standards were our standards and her drive was our drive.
And Joe was our first writer. The English language is his playground and when you meet him, it’s clear that his passion for extraordinary ideas and storytelling are beyond compare.
The ability to think and do will always be a hallmark of Truth Collective. And these three leaders will ensure this lives on.
Cheers to you Whit, Karrie and Joe.
